SPRINGTIME FOR HITLER AND GERMANY: The Producers

I chose to see this comedic piece based on the fact that I had seen the musical live in person when it came through Cincinnati. The musical is about a producer (played in the movie by Nathan Lane) and his accountant (played in the movie by Matthew Broderick) as they try to fool a group of investors in investing in their musical which they want to be a trainwreck about the Third Reich. Ironically, the musical ends up being a great success.

I was surprised to find I actually liked this movie, because I often love the musical and hate the movie or the other way around. Nathan Lane's voice never fails to make me laugh, and Will Ferell's part in the movie as a German still in love with Hitler was hilarious. Uma Thurman steals the show with playing the sexy chorus girl and my favorite number was "If You Got It Flaunt It" where she belted well and landed the splits off a desk (which I didn't know Uma could even do). I would highly recommend this to a person who loves Matthew Broderick and loves satire.
