The Revenant (2015)

I didn't like it.  5/10.  I was extremely disappointed with this movie.  I heard so much about it, and I really set myself up for failure here.  The first 50 minutes of the movie before Leonardo Dicaprio starts his vengeance quest are brain dead boring.  There are no interesting characters, in fact, all the characters presented feel like the same angry 1700s colonists.  There is no personal conflict.  Yes, a Native American's daughter was taken and something about ~30 people dying, but I was almost shocked at how impersonal it was.  It didn't feel purposeful either it just felt as if it was lacking a purpose at that point and desperately trying to start the main plot.  Then when the main action fiiiiiiinally began, it was wilderness-survival-revenge tale that really didn't add anything new to the genre.  The only thing new was it was another role for people to overexaggerated Leonardo Dicaprios skill.  The cinematography was beautiful and I really enjoyed the music, but it was just extremely disappointed and bored.  Save your time, don't watch it.
