For some reason, I willingly let Morganne convince me to go see The Boss this past weekend. It stars Melissa McCarthy, who's career plateaued after 2007, the end of Gilmore Girls. It's not that her films are necessarily bad, though some of them are, it's the fact that all of them are the exact same. The latest films I have seen that have starred McCarthy are Bridesmaids, Spy, and Tammy. I enjoyed all except the latter so was expecting okay things from this movie. Boy was I wrong. The movie starts out in a huge opening, showing how much money our protagonist has. She then is accused for bankruptcy fraud and spends the next 6 months in jail. Her husband appears, as he does in every movie, as her lawyer telling her she has nothing left. She then goes to Kristen Bell and her daughter for help. You would think having Kristen Bell in this movie would make it better but it doesn't. The Boss is literally the same movie as every other movie she has starred in ever. The jokes were all the same, and it became kinda serious in the middle until the end. Overall I was bored and I would give this movie a 3 out of 10.
