Blue Like Jazz

I watched Blue Like Jazz for my book to film review, and I suprisingly didn't hate it. I assumed that I wouldn't like it based on the fact it was a Christian movie, and I typically find Christian movies annoying and preaching. However, this movie was based in college with a young freshman questioning his faith as he got lost in a world of drugs and partying.
This movie brought up questions I wouldn't have normally asked like: is it possible to be ashamed of Jesus? does God care about what u do if everyone else is doing it? is it possibly uncool to be a Chrisitan?
I didn't read the book before I watched the movie, but I read the reviews and it wasn't positive. A lot of people thought the acting was too fake and that the author didn't have enough control in the filming. They said it wan't as poetic as the book and that it was hard to capture the spirit of the writer on screen.
This movie made me interested in the book, but I probably won't read it because I only read plays.
