Book to movie adaptation

For my movie review I watched the adaptation of a book I've actually read and which happened to be on Netflix. My side of the mountain is the story of a kid named Sam who gets sick of city living in New York city and moves to an abandoned family farm to live like Thoreau and experience nature. The movie didn't change much from the book except for a couple plot points and order of events to make it a more watchable movie and allow for speech that isn't just monologue. The movie on its own was very average. There wasn't anything special about it. The acting was very average which is understandable considering the main character had to be cast young. The cinematography was really documentary esque not really doing much to contribute to the experience and really just documentimg the plot. I was really pretty disappointed and would give this movie a 4/10.
