I watched Passion of the Christ because it was a recent movie and for some reason I thought it might actually be decent. The Passion of the Christ is a movie focusing almost solely on Jesus' death on the cross, with very little about his teachings. The movie is trying to make a graphic show of the price Christians believe Jesus paid for their sins. The movie itself is pretty much entirely violence, gore and blood making it at least a little unsettling. I didn't care for the movie or find it interesting or moving in any way. Yes the horrible torture that people had to go through and specifically Jesus when being hung on a cross is horrible but I didn't need a 100+ minute movie to tell me that. I think that for many Christians this movie would be pretty unsettling and probably leave them pretty upset but maybe it would make Christians feel as though maybe they should be more sorry for their sins and act like they care. However I should make no assumptions. All in all I was hoping for a little more about Jesus' life and teachings not just his death because the teachings are what may have real value. The acting and cinematography was good but that doesn't make a movie for me if the plot is rather horrible. Id give this movie a 3/10.
