This week I watched Star Trek Into Darkness, and as usual I focused more on the acting than I did the screen effects. (Even though I did think there were a few many lens flares for my taste) I think J.J Abrams does a better job doing the Star Trek movies rather than the Star Wars movies.
As a fan of the older movies/ tv show, I thought the casting of the movie was on point with the orginial. I thought Zacahry Quinto captured the esscence of Spock and Chris Pine excelled in Captain Kirk then he does in some of his main stream projects.
Something I didn't like, however, was the oversexualitzation of women in the movie. The blonde doctor girl was thrown in a shirtless scene for no reason, and I don't think that rains true for what Star Trek really stands for. Star Trek is more about protraying main stream ideas and overcoming boundaries than showing boobs on screen.
I would recommend this to someone who likes the original movies, but I would say it is more modern with violence and sex and less about ideas than the orginial.
