(Inter)Stellar Review

So for my Christopher Nolan film, I chose to watch Interstellar. Going into the film, I vaguely thought it was about aliens….nothing else…so when the opening showed, I totally thought the movie was about to be about the Dust Bowl.  Boy, was I wrong.  Not only did I follow the story (after realizing it was not in fact about the Great Depression) but I absolutely loved it.  Nolan’s techniques of screwing with your memory and brain, as well as innovative story lines was very evident in this film.  While I got sick of some shots of the same wing of the ship with a green screen behind it, overall I thought the space scenes were well thought out and the gravity debacle was nicely handled.  Personally I thought sound could be better handled, for instance there were sometimes when it went silent  and it didn’t need to be silent or other times where it wasn’t silent long enough.  I also never noticed any music.  Ever.  So I’m not even sure if there was a soundtrack.  During lots of tense dialogue the camera was always moving, making it feel like you were a person there but also became a little bit distracting during scenes with tense dialogue and lots of action. It felt too chaotic.  I actually loved this movie, I’m a huge science fiction fan and this was right up my alley.  I would give a 8/10 and would recommend.
