Christopher Nolan (The Prestige)

For my Christopher Nolan film I decided to watch “The Prestige.” The thing that really got me throughout the whole film is that I kept thinking I had the next secret or trick figured out. However every time I thought I knew it the plot changed and a twist was thrown at me. This film really captivates its audience by going back and forth between the past and present confusing us and deepening us further into the plot. I really liked the ending of the film because I did not understand the whole film until they very last minutes. I really think this film was pure genius because of how the secret works out in the end with both having doubles and who does and does not die. Honestly I am still not sure if I have the film completely figure out. The film did a great job of focusing the camera/shot on what was important in each scene. I was able to get certain clues about who was who in the different scenes. The last scene was the craziest shot because in the corner of the screen you can see all the “doubles” that were created during the transportation trick, this last scene put together all the confusing pieces throughout the whole film into one giant idea that made sense. STARS: 4/5
